Olympics &Love

     Shanxi, the cradle of Chinese culture; Pingyao, a World Cultural Heritage Site. China Pingyao International Photography Festival, the world’s largest photography exhibition, will be held here again on September 19th, 2008. It has already passed eight years since its foundation in 2001.

In 2008, China is activated by one great event, the 29th Olympic Games, and the whole country is moved by one theme, love; both have been selected as the theme of 2008 Pingyao International Photography Festival. Olympics and love, like pulse and blood, will cross in Pingyao to witness the power of images.

In 2008, every one is consciously or unconsciously creating history .Photographer is the recorder of history, and constructor as well. All the efforts will turn to an unprecedented visual pageant in Pingyao in September -- a great event of both Olympics and Love.

Olympics is not only a distinguished meeting in sports field, but also a symbol of energy and spirit of human life. The unprecedented pageant and broad participatory will surely invoke multiplex observation, create vivid records, and enlighten the emergence of new ideas.

Love is not only human sentiment, but also the root and reason of artistic creation. Individual consciousness and group inspiration will definitely bring about multiplex interpretation, vivid experience, profound concern, and great humanity.

PIP Festival is the Olympics of images, while love is embodied through artistic images.

Under the theme of “Olympics and love”, the festival has built up a stage for artists express their feelings, love, and their values.  Because of the imperishable memory, this Olympics of image becomes splendid; because of the inherent humanity, the great love of art will last forever.
